JAMES (JAMIE) THOMAS HOSKINS

With deep love and affection, our family announces the peaceful passing of our husband and father, James (Jamie) Thomas Hoskins at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Left to cherish with fond memories are his loving wife of 37 years Louise; their son Alex; and daughter Katie (Michel).
Jamie will be remembered fondly by his brother Darryl; sister Leanne; brother-in-law Robert (Joan); Dan and Bill; sister-in-law Doreen (Wes); nieces, Tina (Steven) and Janna (Dennis); nephews, Tristan (Erin), Phillip (Tania), Erin (Bonnie), Joshua (Jaclyn), Zachary (Natalie), Luke, Ezra (Mimi), Nathan and Jered; great-nieces, Kaitlyn, Calleigh, Isabelle, Desiree, Enya-Rae, Ashley, Victoria and Charisse; great-nephews, Christopher, Matthew, Denny, William and Stefen; as well as extended family and friends.
Jamie was predeceased by his parents, Freda and Llyod; father-in-law Stefan; mother-in-law Margaret; and sisters-in-law, Judy and Joy.
Jamie was born on February 16, 1951 in Calgary, AB and lived with his family in Canada and Europe, travelling with father Llyod who was in the Air Force before settling in Manitoba.
Jamie was truly a "jack of all trades" over his career, working in the mines in Thompson in his younger days, before moving over to the insurance industry where he spent the majority of his career. Jamie "retired" to McCreary, MB with wife Louise where he worked as a handyman, tree tapper, Northern guide, Councilor, CancerCare and Handi-Van driver.
Jamie enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking, golfing and cross country skiing. He always looked forward to his annual fishing trip with lifelong friends Steve, Ed, Gary, Jimmy and Terry. He loved going for long drives with his wife Louise wherever the roads would take them.
The family would like to thank the Cancer Care and Respiratory Recovery Teams at the Health Sciences Centre, including Dr. Leylek, and Jamie's outstanding nurse Sixto.
Due to COVID-19 and Jamie's personal wishes, no formal service will be held. Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held at the family home in McCreary, MB.
