BERNIE ROLLE
The last few years he had many health battles due to diabetes including blindness and bi-lateral amputation but he seemed to bounce back with every new illness and always had comebacks with his cheesy Dad jokes or something a little more inappropriate. He will always be remembered for his love of sports and family, sometimes in that order.
Bernie worked at Atlas Tube (Standard Tube) for many years until his retirement in November 2019. He was a steel-man through and through right down to his underwear, just like his father-in-law.
Bernie was predeceased by his parents, Frieda and Helmut Rolle; and father-in-law John Wren.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Pamela (nee Wren); his daughter Megan (Bill) Burfoot; grandchildren, Zoe (Lance), Sara, Quinn and Kylie; siblings, Roland (Liza), Harold (Joanne) and Connie (Larry); mother-in-law Joan Wren; brother and sister-in-law Graham Wren (Linda), and Christine Wren.
We would like to thank all the St. Boniface Hospital medical staff and aides on 4E and MICU for their care and attention to Bernie's needs, especially at the end.
In lieu of flowers, we urge you to make a donation in his name to Diabetes or a charity of your choice.
"Those we love never truly leave us.
There are things that death cannot touch."

Dearest Pam, You are in our hearts and thoughts in this most difficult time. Bernie was an amazing man, husband, father and grandfather! He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives! We hope you all hold on to the warm and wonderful memories you shared together, and that they continue to give you comfort and peace. You were an outstanding wife and we know these last few years were especially difficult for you taking care of Bernie. You are a true inspiration and love story! 💞 Tim and Brenda Stouffer - Posted by: Tim and Brenda Stouffer (Friends ) on: Oct 06, 2020

I made my first trip to Shelby Ohio with Bernie in Nov 2001 to tour the tube plant . Zoe was very young at that time and Bernie gushed the whole trip about her. In those days’ airfare was cheaper if you spent the weekend, so Bernie and I enjoyed a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and scored tickets to a Cavs basketball game. I appreciated Bernie's insight about the game. He had a real passion for it. Most importantly I enjoyed the time we spent together, and working with him in the industry. A most honest, genuine person. One thing I know about Bernie, first and foremost he was a family man, and he loved them all very much. My condolences to Pam and all the family. - Posted by: Grant McLaren (Business Associate) on: Oct 03, 2020
