DIANE CECHVALA
(nee DUFAULT)
October 7, 1931- September 30, 2020
Diane will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda Baker (Doug), Susan Cechvala (Richard) and Cheryl Munn (Bob), her grandchildren, Sandy (Jason), Dallas (Olivia), Jeff (Linsey), Kandis (Brad), Shelley (Russ), Paul (Nikki), and her 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sister Jeannine Dufault and sisters-in-law, Mary Mojelsky and Edna Cechvala. Diane was predeceased by her husband Frank in 2011.
Diane grew up in St. Boniface and married Frank on June 24, 1950. They lived in St. Vital for most of their married life and enjoyed cottage life at Grand Beach. Diane loved bowling, curling and golfing. She also loved her card parties with family and friends.
Frank came to welcome Diane into heaven on his birthday. We're sure they're having a great party just like the ones they loved to have on Humboldt Avenue. Diane was always the life of the party.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of River Park Gardens. We really appreciate the care and compassion you provided to our mother.
In keeping with public health requirements, a private service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

Dear Linda, Susie, Cheryl and your families, We are so saddened to hear of Diane's passing. It seems like we were always at your place or you at ours. Your Mom was always so full of energy and always so full of fun. Pancakes on the weekends, fish on Friday. I remember hanging out when she brought Cheryl home from the hospital. Diane was so happy to let us hold her. I still hear her laugh. We were so lucky to have such a loving neighbour. Love to all of you. Dawn and Harold, Greg and Wendy and Sharel. - Posted by: Wendy Fraser (childhood friend) on: Oct 13, 2020

Shannon and I have so many wonderful memories of Grandma Cechvala. Whether it was a dinner invitation or a last minute card night, she always made you feel welcome and like you were a part of her family. Her laugh was infectious, her beauty timeless, and her spirit so uplifting. Shannon and I will miss you, but knowing you are finally at peace and reunited with your true love makes us smile and remember what an amazing woman you were to us. - Posted by: Nicki Penner (Friend) on: Oct 08, 2020

Sincere condolences to my friends Linda, Susan, Cheryl and their families. I have many fond memories of their Mom, late night socials all around St. Vital with follow up partying at Diane and Frank’s. Diane would stop and talk to anyone and everyone, when I think of her, I just hear her laughter. A sad loss but a relief to know she’s at peace with Frank. I knew “mom” growing up as I was a friend of Cheryl’s in our tween and teenager years. Also my late sister Donna was friends with Susan. I had many a sleep over on Humbolt and joined the family To many Of their family gatherings (parties or game nights). I was made to feel like one of the family. I truly loved her and I want to send my condolences to all if the family. Margaret (Tye) Vidruk - Posted by: Margaret Vidruk (Tye) (Old Friend of the Family ) on: Oct 08, 2020

My Mom, Helen Cechvala Beggan, Diane's 'first cousin by marriage,' passed away in 2019. Mom told me a few months before she died that I learned to walk in Diane's kitchen. I never knew that. I have a photo of Linda and I from that visit. We had driven from Wisconsin when I was about a year old. I remember Diane throughout my life as fun-loving, caring and genuinely kind. Sweet memories over the years, both in Canada and in Wisconsin. Rest in peace Diane with your beloved Frank. And Mom and Dad, and the rest of our family. We can hear your laughter still.
