LAMONT: Elizabeth (Betty) nee Rapitta. It is with much sadness that the family of Betty Lamont announces her passing on January 11, 2009, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her sister, Georgina, brother Randy and daughter Tammy, by her side. Betty was the eldest daughter of John and Sophie Rapitta of Kipling, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her father and mother; her husband, Mel Lamont; two brothers, Willie and Len Rapitta; her son--in-law, Aldo Aramini; a sister-in-law, Mary Rapitta; and a niece, Andrea Rapitta. She is survived by her son, Steve Lamont (Marnie), of Regina, Saskatchewan and his daughter, Jennifer. By her daughter Tammy Aramini, and her sons, Aaron, Brendyn, and Caelan, all of Brandon, Manitoba; by five brothers: Phil Rapitta (Barb) of Stoney Creek, Ontario; Ted Rapitta (Marie), of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia; Val Rapitta (Eilleen), of Regina, Saskatchewan; Randy Rapitta (Carmen), of Kipling, Saskatchewan; and Ray Rapitta (Linda), of Regina, Saskatchewan. By five sisters: Shirley (Roger) Thevenot, of Carman, Manitoba; Doreen (Eugene) Gogal, of Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Dianne (Larry) Wood, of Regina, Saskatchewan; Georgina (Ken) Moreau, of Souris, Manitoba; and Bonnie (Erling) Madsen, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Unjelika and Julian, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many doctors and nurses and other caregivers who attended to Betty during her lengthy stay in Brandon Hospital and the Assiniboine Centre. Your care and compassion was remarked upon by Betty and much appreciated by her family. At Betty's request, there was no funeral service. A private family gathering and interment of cremated remains was held January 16, 2009. Arrangements in care of Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, Brandon.
