BEEVER: Hilda Emily Beever passed away peacefully on March 15, 2010. She was born on August 28, 1916 in Wheatland, Manitoba, to George and Florence Perrett. Hilda attended a one-room school in Wheatland and by age 16, was out on her own working as a home helper at the Bill Connor and Harold Westwood homes. On November 11, 1939, she married Samuel Beever. Sam joined Royal Canadian Air Force and they spent the war years at various air bases. They had one daughter, Beverley. At the end of the war, Sam got a job at Rivers Air Base and they moved back to Wheatland where her dad was postmaster there. Hilda later became postmistress at Wheatland until she retired at age 65. After Sam passed away, she moved to Rivers where she lived in her own home until her death. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church and liked gardening, bowling, reading and various hobbies. Hilda is survived by her: daughter Bev (Lanny) Westwood; granddaughters Joanne Baker and Meran Higgins; great-grandchildren Johnathon, Mathew, Sydney, Britney and Jade; sisters Evelyn and Margaret; brother Jack; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Sam, sisters Vera and Dot and brothers Eric and Charlie. A funeral service was held Friday, March 19 at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Nigel Packwood officiating. Pall bearers were George Baker, Johnathon Baker, Dale Beever, Marlin Beever, Larry Beever and Ches Sheppard. Interment followed at Rivers Cemetery. Donations in memory of Hilda may be made to Hamiota Health Centre or a charity of choice. She will be sadly missed.
