CZARNECKI: After a short, courageous battle against cancer, on September 14, 2012, at the Assiniboine Centre, dearly beloved husband, father and Grandfather Ron Czarnecki of Brandon passed away peacefully at the age of 71. Ron is survived and will be sadly missed and remembered by his mother Lena; wife of 45 years Charlotte; sons Christopher (Cathie), Cory and Brent (Shandra) and grandchildren Zachary, Ashley, Courtney, Malcolm, Autumn, Madigan and Michael. He was predeceased by his father Michael Czarnecki. He also leaves to mourn two brothers Rudy (Diane) of Dauphin and Larry (Valery) of Winnipeg; sister-in -law Julie Zaharchuk of Brandon; brothers-in-law Ed Lorenowicz of Okotoks, Alberta and Kenny (Mary) Lorenowicz of Toronto, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ron was born in Fishing River, Manitoba on February 17, 1941. He grew up and received his school education in Pine River and Ethelbert, Manitoba. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing and the outdoors at Singoosh Lake in the Duck Mountains, where his family had a cottage. Ron spent a year working in Churchill for the federal government before attending Ryerson University in Toronto where he graduated as a public health inspector in 1964. He then started his career as a public health inspector for the Province of Manitoba in The Pas, where he worked until relocating to Russell in 1966. He then married Charlotte in August of the Centennial year of 1967. In August of 1973, with sons Christopher and Cory, Ron and Charlotte moved to Brandon and in November of 1975 Brent was born. Ron continued to work in Brandon until his retirement in 2001. Ron's favourite hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and playing cribbage. He was also an avid fan of all sports, but particularly hockey, football, baseball and curling. While in Brandon, Ron was an active parishioner in St. Hedwig's Roman Catholic Church and most recently in St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church. Most of all, Dad will be remembered for the loving devotion and endless support he provided to his family, who were always his first concern and priority. Family occasions and gatherings with friends, which usually included Charlotte's cooking that he rightfully thought couldn't be beat, were especially precious to Dad. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Celebrant was Rev. Fr. Kevin Smith. The family eulogy was delivered by son Brent. Ron's eldest grandchild Zachary was urn bearer. Private family interment was held at theBrandon Cemetery and a reception with family and friends followed at the Sokol Hall. Special thanks to Dr. Meredith, all staff on the 4th Floor of the Brandon General Hospital, and those working on the Palliative Care Unit at the Assiniboine Centre for their excellent care and support.
