HITCHINS: C. David Hitchins passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 20, 2016 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Dave was born July 13, 1939 in Virden, Manitoba. He attended Brandon University and graduated with a BSc degree. Dave leaves his wife, Isabel, of 54 years, son Kelly (Denise) and grandchildren Paige, Logan and Laine. He is also survived by his sister Janet Baryluk (Ron), their son Michael, their daughter Lisa and families as well as his cousin Jean MacKinnon. Dave was an avid golfer, especially after he retired in 1995. He followed the Blue Jays through their ups and downs, and, more recently, the Raptors basketball team. He and Isabel made many trips to Hawaii and Australia and they cruised the Panama Canal, Europe and Alaska. Dave and Isabel moved to Victoria in 2014 where he loved exploring the city and being involved with the sports activities of their grandchildren. A family memorial will be held October 27, 2016 in Victoria. If friends desire, donations can be made in Dave’s memory to a charity of choice or to the Cancer Society.
