GRUMMETT: Dorothy Elizabeth. It is with much sadness that the family of Dorothy Elizabeth Grummett announces that she passed away after a short illness, on April 11, 2018, in hospital in Killarney, Manitoba, at the age of 83 years. She is survived by her children, Irene (Allan) Rathbone, Colin (Nancy), and David (Carey Lynn), six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, her brother-in-law Floyd Sager, and by numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends across the country. She was predeceased by her husband, Keith in 2008, and her sister, Elsie Sager in 2013. Dorothy was born and raised in Carroll, Manitoba, and after farming nearby with Keith in the early years of their marriage, she spent most of her adult life working and raising her family in Brandon. With Keith, and after her retirement, she had a 6 year adventure living in a small town on Vancouver Island near Irenes family, but eventually returned to Manitoba where they both felt most at home. After Keiths death, she chose Killarney as her final home; a treasured community where she and Keith had spent their summers for many years, close to Elsie and Floyd, and where she felt safe and comfortable living on her own. Over the last decade, Dorothy enjoyed her Killarney home community immensely, and often took advantage of her good health to travel and spend time with family and friends. A Celebration of Life luncheon in Dorothys memory will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion, 112 Finlay Street, Killarney, Manitoba. Memorial donations in Dorothys memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Messages of condolencemay be made online at www.wheatlandfs.comWheatland Funeral Service204-523-7791
