FITZSIMMONS: It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marty Graham Fitzsimmons at the Assiniboine Center on September 5, 2018 surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with cancer. Marty was born on December 13, 1960 in Brandon, Manitoba to Ron and Gloria Fitzsimmons and was the oldest of three. Marty grew up in Edrans and Forrest and raised a family of his own in Douglas, Gladstone and Brandon. Marty had a passion for music, camping, and sports, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. Marty was employed with MTS for 36 years. Marty was dedicated to his family and friends and was loved by many who will cherish and share his memories over the years to come. Marty leaves behind to mourn, his three daughters, Tara (Booth, son Brixten) Ashcroft, Amber (Jordan) Barbeau, Serena (Jordan, son Noel) Mann, brother Brad Fitzsimmons, sister Deb Fitzsimmons (Randy Vogt), nephews Jeff, Shane, and Michael Fitzsimmons, Uncle Lyle and Aunt Alice Kjartanson, along with many extended relatives. In Marty’s words “Have a good one.” A celebration of Marty’s life was held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Memories Chapel. Interment was at Edrans cemetery. In memory of Marty, donations may be made to Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3.
