In loving memory of Katherine Hiebert Champagne (nee Bergen), age 86 years, of Steinbach, MB, who passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
She is survived by her second husband, Les Champagne; eight children, Mary (Ben) Unrau, Helen (Jim) Wiebe, Susan (Ivan) Johnson, John (Carol) Hiebert, Anne (Mike) Neufeld, Martha Gerbrandt, Jake (Ang) Hiebert, Willie (Anne) Hiebert; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Katherine is also survived by her stepchildren, Fred (Shirley) Champagne, Ernie (Virna) Champagne, Richard (Yvonne) Champagne, Craig (Patricia) Champagne, Anne (Stan), Kathleen, Randy (Lee Anne) and numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband Peter C. Hiebert, three grandsons and several great-grandchildren.
Mom had a lot of hobbies, like knitting, crocheting, sewing, puzzling and many more. She also loved it when her children came home and she could feed them. Playing games was also something she looked forward to. She used to play Skip-Bo with Dad and their pet dog Rambo.
Mom was baptized upon the confession of her faith at an early age in South America in the Chortitzer Church.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow the service at New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church Cemetery, New Bothwell, MB.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Katherine Hiebert Champagne (nee Bergen) to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Winnipeg, MB.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre and her homecare.
We would also like to thank family and friends for their kind words of encouragement.
