ERMA SCHELLENBERG
(NEE ENNS)
June 27, 1939-Oct. 16, 2018

Erma Schellenberg (nee Enns), age 79, of Steinbach, MB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

Erma will be lovingly remembered by her husband Isaac and their four children, Hilda and Dickie Dueck, Frank Schellenberg, Shirley Mullen, and Ron and Shauna Schellenberg. In addition, Erma leaves to cherish her memory her eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as her one sister Laverna (Hiebert) and three brothers Henry, Elmer and Robert Ens.

Erma was predeceased by her parents Henry and Anna Ens, along with her three brothers Bobby, Harold and William Ens.

Erma will always be remembered as a kind, loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was unwavering in her faith in God, with a genuine hunger to live life according to God’s Word and will, on a daily basis.

As a family we take great comfort in knowing that today she is in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, exactly where she belongs.

She was a “Rock”, the cornerstone of our family, and often she would kneel in prayer through a family crisis or situation believing that God and His Word held the solution to the issue.

She lived selflessly until her last breath, always making sure everyone else around her was okay before ever thinking of herself.

Erma loved Isaac deeply and stood by him in support over their 62 years of marriage. She had a way of comforting him and giving him the strength he needed to get through some very tough times over the years. With her gentle reassurance, she gave the confidence for him to do what was needed, and he took great comfort in this quiet strength she possessed.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply…And like the prayer warrior she was, she would dedicate the time to pray for each one of them daily. She said many times that her greatest wish was to all be together in Heaven one day.

She was a woman of great character and many hidden talents. She loved music greatly, and had the ability to play several instruments by ear and sing (mostly to herself).

Erma was functional, not fancy. She was first a mother and homemaker, but also worked very hard in the early days. Dad would go to Winnipeg in the morning to work on the floodway and Mom would milk all of the cows (by hand), then go in to feed the kids and get them off to school every day. She also worked outside of the home over the years as a store clerk, a Home Care Aid, and for South Eastman Health. She always made sure she contributed to our family in one way or another. She was a worker bee…and a beautiful worker bee at that.

Knowing how much her family, extended family and friends meant to her, we are blessed that Erma was determined enough to stick around for many of us to travel to be by her bedside in her last days. Whether it be sharing of a memory or expressing our gratitude towards her, and best of all to hear her express her absolute confidence that she was going to be with her God very soon.

Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma and Friend, we will miss you so much.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Erma may be made to Operation Smile Canada Foundation, Head Office: 375 University Ave, Suite 204, Toronto, ON, M5G 2J5.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The interment took place at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
