HENRY PLETT
1932-2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Plett, at the age of 86, after a brief stay at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

Henry is mourned by his wife Mary, and his children Ron, Cheryl, Tim (Jenny), James and Kathy and by his grandchildren Joshua, Allison (Jesse), Christopher and Rachael. He is also mourned by Mary’s children, Gareth (Sharon), Eunice (Hank), Doug (Lois), Wally (Alexis) and Denise (Craig), as well as her 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife Anna in 2007 and his son-in-law Gordon Termeer.

Henry was born on July 22, 1932 in Landmark, MB to Cornelius K. and Susanna Plett, the fifth of seven children. He lived most of his life in Landmark but moved to Mafeking briefly to work in his father’s lumber camp. He married Anna Reimer in 1954. While they were building their family, he tried different professions including plumbing, driving a grain truck and hauling milk. In 1968, he went into private enterprise and bought Landmark Transfer. Eight years later he bought two egg trucks and called the business Plett Trucking, which still exists to this day.

Henry was a generous and loving person, willing to help others whenever the need arose. He loved to spend time in conversation with people, whether it was in the coffee shop, on the golf course, in the lobby of the church or while watching his beloved Blue Jays on TV. Henry loved to travel and went on many trips across Canada, to Europe and Egypt, and many places in between. He also loved to ski but wasn’t always successful in that endeavor.

After the death of Anna in 2007, Henry found renewed happiness in his marriage to Mary Plett in 2008. They enjoyed 10 wonderful years together before his health began to fail. At the end, his pain and discomfort was so intense that he was very willing and looking forward to going ‘Home’ to be with his Lord and Saviour. That wish was granted on Sept. 17, 2018.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. at Prairie Rose EMC, Landmark, MB, with interment at the church cemetery.

If so desired, donations in his memory may be made to Prairie Rose EMC Missions.

Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030.
