GASTON BRÉMAULT

Le lundi 23 juillet 2018, au Heritage Life Personal Care Home, à Niverville, Manitoba, Gaston Brémault est décédé paisiblement, à l’âge de 87 ans.

Il laisse dans le deuil, ses enfants, Nicole (Norman Dugas), Lise, Joëlle, Suzanne, Luc (Marie-Paule Sabourin) et Lynne (Robert Parent); ses petits-enfants, Annick (Sacha Daoud), Christian, Sarah (Shane Haase) et Kalliane; Jérémie; Alain et André; Camille (Alex Gagnon), Anie (Leo Sawatzky) et Cabrel; Julianne; trois arrière-petits-enfants, Lélio, Théa et Xaviel; ses frères et ses sœurs, Roger (Rose-Marie Bruneau), Thérèse (feu Marcel Baudry), Aurèle (Caroline Novak), Aline (feu Edouard Robidoux), Gérald (Shirley Kilback), Annette (feu Maurice Kohut), Léa (feu David Smith) et Michel (Lorraine Rootsaert); ses belles-sœurs, Laurette (Sabourin), Claire (L’Heureux) et Jeannette (German); ses beaux-frères et ses belles-sœurs, Roméo St-Hilaire (Simonne Saindon), Antoine St-Hilaire (Jeannette Saindon), Fernand St-Hilaire (feue Gracia Robidoux) et Raynald St-Hilaire (Estelle Lambert). Il fut prédécédé par son épouse Céline (St-Hilaire), leur fille Ginette et ses frères Paul, Guy et Gilbert.

Gaston est né le 7 février 1931, à Ste-Agathe, Manitoba, le premier des douze enfants d’Auguste Brémault et de Louise-Anna Lemoine. Gaston est allé à l’école jusqu’en 1946, moment auquel il a dû quitter en raison d’un accident et suite à quoi on lui a confié les tâches de la ferme. En 1953, Gaston a épousé Céline St-Hilaire (née à St-Pierre-Jolys) à Richer, Manitoba. Ensemble, ils ont élevé leurs sept enfants et ils ont fait leur vie sur la ferme « au large » de Ste-Agathe pendant 25 ans, avant de vendre et de déménager au village. Gaston a travaillé comme inspecteur de construction résidentielle jusqu’en 2001, année où il a pris sa retraite. Gaston était un homme à tout faire: il était habile agriculteur, mécanicien, charpentier et menuisier. Il insistait que tout soit bien fait. Très motivé par le mouvement coopératif, il s’engageait au sein de divers comités qui voyaient au développement de sa communauté, tels les Manitoba Pool Elevators, les Caisses populaires et les Chevaliers de Colomb. Il aimait chanter à l’église; chanter avec la chorale des Intrépides était son passetemps préféré. Homme de foi, Gaston exprimait les convictions qui lui tenaient à cœur, et d’un esprit généreux, il se rendait toujours disponible à prêter main forte à ses voisins et à sa famille.

Nous, la famille, tenons à remercier le personnel du Heritage Life pour l’amour et les soins attentifs prodigués à Papa.

La célébration des funérailles aura lieu le vendredi 3 août 2018, à l’église catholique de Ste-Agathe, présidée par l’abbé Peter Krasuski, pps. Des prières, des chants et des témoignages auront lieu à 13h30, suivis de la messe funéraire à 14h. L’inhumation aura lieu immédiatement après au cimetière paroissial et une réception aura lieu au Centre culturel et communautaire de Ste-Agathe.

Gaston Brémault passed away at Heritage Life Personal Care Home, in Niverville, Manitoba, on Monday, July 23, 2018, at 87 years of age. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Nicole (Norman Dugas), Lise, Joëlle, Suzanne, Luc (Marie-Paule Sabourin), and Lynne (Robert Parent); his eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, his brothers and sisters-in-law, and their families. Gaston was predeceased by his wife Céline (St-Hilaire) and their daughter, Ginette.

Gaston was born in Ste-Agathe, Manitoba, on February 7, 1931, the first of twelve children of Auguste Brémault and Louise-Anna Lemoine. Gaston and Céline were married in 1953. They lived, worked and raised their children on their farm in Ste-Agathe, before selling and moving to town in 1978. Gaston worked as a residential construction inspector for surrounding rural municipalities before his retirement in 2001. Gaston loved to sing and be involved in committees which led to the betterment of his church and community. A man of faith, Gaston enjoyed discussing matters and values of importance to him, with family and friends.

We, the children would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Heritage Life for the love and care given to our “Papa”.

The funeral service was held on Friday, August 3, 2018, at the Ste-Agathe Catholic Church, presided by Fr. Peter Krasuski, PSS. Prayers, music and eulogy were at 1:30 p.m., the funeral mass at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the Ste-Agathe Parish Cemetery. A reception followed at the Ste-Agathe Community Cultural Centre.
