Leonard Niel Poetker of Wetaskiwin, AB (formally of Steinbach, MB) passed away at the Wetaskiwin Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Rempel), of 49 years; seven children, Anthony (Ruby), Tammy (fiancé Estevan), Craig (Irma), Cheryl (James), Annette (Frank), Maryjane, Heather (Mick); 26 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter V. Poetker (2007) and Agatha Poetker (nee Unger) (2008); in-laws, Peter Rempel (2005) and Gertrude Rempel (nee Harder) (1995); brothers-in-law, Abe Hiebert (1993), Sheldon Wiebe (2000), Cornelius Martens (2009), David Rempel (2013); and sister-in-law, Rose Delorme (nee Rempel).
A memorial service will be held Friday, Mar. 31, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB. Interment service to follow at Heritage Cemetery.
