ESTHER POIRIER
(nee Hiebert)
On February 3, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer, Esther went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It is with deep sadness we say goodbye to Esther, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend.
Esther leaves to cherish her memory her husband Maurice, her children: Jennifer & Glenn Stark, Kevin Poirier, Jillian & Alan Harder, and Erica & Mark Quiring; her grandchildren: Anthony, Cory, Saige, Kaitlyn, Elise, Isabella, Ethan, Ember, Michael & Logan. She also leaves her mother Nettie Hiebert, her siblings: Tina & Ed Doerksen, Nettie Hiebert, Anne & Cliff Omichinski, Mike Poirier, Ben & Vanessa Hiebert, and Sherryl & Rheal Perrin; her father-in-law Omer Poirier, Gilbert & Michlene Poirier, Edmond & Angie Poirier, Roger & Diane Poirier, Dennis & Alice Poirier, Louis & Diane Poirier, and Diane & Ed Block; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Esther was predeceased by her father Ben Hiebert in 1980, her son Adam in 2004, her sister Lorna Poirier in 2008 and her mother-in-law Margaret Poirier in 2011.
Esther met Maurice when she was a teenager and they were married on November 3, 1973. A devoted wife and mother and grandmother she cherished nothing more than family, even during her battle, her prayers and thoughts were of her husband, children, grandchildren and her mother.
Esther had many gifts and the biggest of these was her passion for babies, to love and care for them no matter how difficult. Through the last 14 years, Esther and Maurice cared for 19 foster children and were very blessed to have two of these beautiful children become there grandchildren.
Esther also loved to scrapbook and spent many hours creating amazing memories of her family and her foster children, as well as the wonderful vacations that she shared with Maurice. No words can describe how much we will all miss her, but take comfort that we can one day see her again.
Viewing will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, and also at the chapel prior to the funeral service.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
The family would like to say thank you for all the love and support they have received from everyone.
