RICK JONES
1958 - 2020

With his son by his side Rick Jones passed away peacefully on October 7, 2020, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rick will be remembered by his son Cole (Breanne) and his two sisters, Sharon and Debbie, along with many other family and friends.
Rick was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Don.
For his adult life Rick was a truck driver and proud to work for Gee Tee Holdings Inc. He knew every local truck driver around. When out with Cole and Breanne and they would see a gravel truck Rick was sure to tell them who was the one behind the wheel.
His most treasured person in this life was his son Cole. He loved watching Cole play hockey for many years, never missing a game with a Tim Horton's double double in his hand. The next important thing to Rick was his "baby" /dog Koda, he loved all their cuddles. They had a bond like no other.
The family would like to thank Cancer Care Manitoba and Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
Cole would like to thank his future in-laws for all the help and support. The family would also like to thank Rick's Oakbank neighbours for checking in on him and helping him when needed.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Kidsport Winnipeg in memory of Rick in hopes more kids have the opportunity to play sports.
In accordance with Rick's wishes cremation has taken place. Cole and Breanne encourage everyone that knew Rick to take a moment to remember him and celebrate his life with a shot of Rick's favourite, Captain Morgan's white rum.

Love ya Pops, you will be missed.

  • I am so sorry for your loss Cole and Breanne. Rick was so lucky to have you both in his life (and Koda too). I didn’t know Rick well, but any time I did talk to him he was so kind, and just beamed about you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! - Posted by: Britney Ward (Breanne’s friend) on: Oct 12, 2020

  • I first met Ricky when we were about 12 years old in Westwood. We were very good friends for years but as we get older we drift away from one another. Some of my best memories was watching Ricky play his drums, he was pretty good for a 13 year old. Back then we thought we could start a band and be super stars! LOL. I'm sorry we drifted away from one another. He was a stand up guy but the time I took his 450 Honda for a ride and had a accident he was so pissed at me! I'm so very sorry for that but accidents happen. Loved you Ricky and so very sorry you left this world this early. But there are a lot of family and friends waiting for you at the Pearly gates. God Bless RIP 🙏 😢! Prayers for you my friend!! Will never forget you! - Posted by: Derek Hogaboam (Old Friend ) on: Oct 10, 2020
