SIMONE REGINE CHARLOTTE GAUDET
(née WOLENSKY)
October 14, 1924 - October 16, 2020

Peacefully, with family by her side, Simone Charlotte Régine Marie Gaudet (née Wolensky) passed away October 16, 2020.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jean-Marie Gaudet and her siblings, Charles, Arthur, Roger, Edmund, Antoinette, Anne-Marie, Gertrude and Rose-Hélène.
Simone will be lovingly remembered by her children, Remi (Elizabeth), Colette (Grant), Monique (George), Bernard and Lynne (Doug); her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Simone is survived by her in-laws, Paul and Jeanine Gaudet, Jeanine Frecon, Raymond Gaudet, Anne-Marie and Paul Henrion, Marthe Wolensky, Rolande Wolensky and Germaine Lefebvre.
Simone was born in Storthoaks, Saskatchewan to Alexandre and Marie Wolensky on October 14, 1924. She grew up on the farm, travelling back and forth to attend school in Bellegarde, Saskatchewan. While training to obtain her LPN license in 1950, Simone made several lifelong friends. She worked as a nurse in Winnipeg and Redvers, Saskatchewan for five years and, during this time, she met her husband, Jean-Marie. They married and moved to Winnipeg where they operated a cafe and flower shop across from St. Boniface Hospital for several years and had their first two children. The young family moved to Brandon shortly thereafter, where they had three additional children while operating the family business, Advance Radio and TV, for the next 30 years.
Simone and Jean-Marie loved to travel together. Simone also enjoyed volunteering at church, singing and dancing, bowling, playing cards, home-making and socializing with friends and relatives. Above all, Simone cherished the time the she spent with her family. Her perpetual smile and positive attitude, hope and optimism for the future, was an inspiration for all.
Thank you to the staff at Victoria General Hospital and Tuxedo Villa who helped care for Simone during her final weeks.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Parkinson Canada.
