Gertrude was born on November 11, 1929, in Tiny, Saskatchewan, near Canora. She helped raise many of her brothers and sisters while also helping on the family farm. In 1951 she married her husband John. Gertrude and John welcomed many family members to come and stay with them in Winnipeg. It has been said that she was a Good Hostess and Cook; many still use her recipes. Gertrude worked at Palm Dairy, several Garment Manufacturers in Winnipeg, as well as selling Avon Products. Gertrude enjoyed visits with her family throughout Canada, and vacations in Arizona and California, which all helped to enhance her Spoon Collection. Gertrude was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church where she was involved with the Catholic Women's League. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards with family, and many friends at the seniors clubs.
A private family interment will be held at a later date at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
We would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at the Maples Personal Care Home, for their help in providing aid and comfort in these trying times.
