She is survived by her loyal and loving niece Rosemary Garraway and nephew-in-law Lance; her son Michael; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends in Canada and abroad.
She was predeceased by her daughter Heather (Onyx) Arjoon.

My sincere condolences to Rachael's loved ones. You've lost a remarkable woman. What a pleasure it was to listen to her tell stories of her early days when she decided she would become a teacher? These were lessons in tenacity and perseverance - for female youth and beauty were hardly believed to contain talent. She was a trailblazers from the start and remained so. Her name will be remembered by those who knew her. Also, I'm grateful to Rachael for birthing and raising her daughter, the very extraordinary Onyx (Heather), who remains the standard by which I measure friendship.
