SAMUEL STEPHEN JAMES THORSTEINSON

It is with great sadness we share the news that on Saturday, December 26, 2020, Samuel Thorsteinson suddenly passed away at the age of 54.
He will be lovingly missed by his mother Carole, sister Erica, father Cal (Mirna), daughters, Breanna and Randi, son Nicholas, his stepsiblings, Miriam and Poncho, many other close cousins and extended family. Sam had a growing list of friends who will miss him dearly, to name a few: Curtis, Walter, Jimmy, Kyle, Vicki and Lana.
Sam was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Peggy and Jim, paternal grandparents, Stefan and Agnes, his beloved Uncle Tom and Uncle Jim, and the mother of his daughters, Tamara Leigh. He shall not be alone in his next journey.
Sam's wishes were not to have a funeral. Instead, there shall be a Celebration of Life at a later date. This obituary is also available on Sam's Facebook page.

May he rest in paradise, until we meet again.

  • So very sad to read this news about Sam. I knew Sam when we were kids at Windsor school. He was the absolute cutest little boy with a mop of beautiful blond hair that you could spot wayyy off in the distance. He was a bit of a rascal at times with a very sweet and kind heart. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Dianne Gillespie (School frie.d) on: May 30, 2021

  • Sam and I were childhood friends who lived on the same street growing up in Winnipeg. I can still remember our first hockey game together, I have the picture our parents took of us wearing our hockey gear in the house. Sam was wearing a Canadian’s jersey and I had a Red Wings jersey on. We were both so eager and happy for our first game and ended up playing hockey together for many years. My sincere condolences to his mom Carole and sister Erica, as well his children. It saddens me to think that Sam has passed but I have several fond memories of our childhood together. Rest In Peace Sam, until we meet again. - Posted by: Curtis Gillespie (Childhood friend) on: Jan 10, 2021

  • Dear Carole, Cal, and Erica I was shocked and saddened to learn of Sam's passing. Gee I'm glad I ran into you and got to give him a hug that day we met at the store. I will be thinking of you all and I wish you strength and peace in the days to come. My condolences to you and to Sam's children and all of his friends. • Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, some where very near, just round the corner. All is well. 😇11:11 - Posted by: Vicki (Friend) on: Jan 09, 2021
