DOREEN MARIE EVELYN BEGGS
(nee LESY)

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on February 5, 2021; knowing that there were so many waiting to greet her on the other side, she went willingly to begin her next journey.
Mom was born and raised in Deloraine until moving to Winnipeg where she completed her schooling and met her husband, Tom. Tom and Doreen later married and enjoyed 61 years of wedded bliss...always lovingly referred to as his Bride.
Mom worked at IBM and then later at the Western Canadian Aviation Museum.
Mom loved to travel; from exploring many different parts of the world, to her March getaway in Palm Springs, to hockey tournaments in North Dakota, and the family summers in Victoria Beach.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Juliette and Albert Lesy, and three older sisters, Blanche, Louise and Bernice. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Tom, children, Tom Jr. (Sandi) and Colleen (Scott), and grandchildren, Connor, Brooke, Carson and Rylan. They say you cannot pick your family but you can pick your friends; Mom was smart enough to choose numerous great friends that we considered extended family and as such she has left many to fill the void of a great support and confidante.
Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date.
The family wishes to extend a Thank You to the Grace Hospital ICU and to the staff / friends at Sturgeon Creek 1.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Doreen's passing. I met Tom and Doreen through my mother Joan Coombe and her husband Larry. They were the life of the party wherever they went, and personified what happily-ever-after looks like. Doreen was always gracious and lively, with a sparkle in her eye. She was a pleasure to spend time with. The world was better for her time on earth, and we are all poorer for her passing. Sending hopes that fond and happy memories will comfort you at this time. - Posted by: Susan Doreen Turner (friend) on: Feb 25, 2021
