Retired from the public service, Bob enjoyed music, reading and model making. Those who knew Bob will remember his sharp wit and his love of a good joke or funny story.
Bob is survived by his siblings, Lorna (Bob Deskin) and Brian (Rose Landry), and nieces and nephews living in Ontario. Predeceased by parents, Edith and Eldon Mitchell from Pilot Mound, Manitoba and sister Judith Picotte of Kingston, Ontario.

RIP Bob, I will always remember going for the burger and draft at the legion, always a good story about something he did in his life. It was full of adventure - Posted by: Trevor Ouellette (Co-worker as a summer student) on: Mar 02, 2021

I am so sorry to hear this news. Bob was warm and welcoming to new people starting out in their careers (us engineering students). He was a dedicated professional in his work but he would drop everything to help you if you needed it. He was quick to make fun of you but he would make fun of himself as well. I will miss his humor in the office and the fun times at the Legion down the street. My sincere condolences to his loved ones. - Posted by: Glenn Shlachetka (Fellow worker) on: Mar 02, 2021

I first met Bob when he worked at the Klondike National Historic Sites in and around Dawson City, Yukon. Bob was talented and meticulous at his work with heritage buildings. He was always calm and quietly capable in his endeavours. Bob made my working life easier with his patience, positive nature, his insight, and technical assistance. My sincere condolences to Bob’s family. - Posted by: John white (We worked together ) on: Feb 28, 2021

Bob had a big heart and a bigger laugh! He never turned down any work or opportunity to help anyone in the office. I first met Bob up in Dawson City when we were both working on different projects for Parks Canada and thought - now here is a guy with a lot of weird tools - not knowing what an extant recorder was at the time. Over the years as I got to know Bob and what he was able to do with both those “weird tools” and a computer, I realized what a wizard he was. He was a rock in the office and kept a level head when many did not. Bob was truly a good man, I will miss him at the retirees luncheon. - Posted by: Steve Miville (Friend and co-worker with Parks Canada and Public Works) on: Feb 28, 2021

I remember Bob as a kind, gentle man with a big happy smile and a hearty laugh. I think of you whenever I use the Keg glasses you won at the Legion on the meat draw, and traded for my bag of oranges that I won, lol! Too young to go so soon, remembering you with lots of fond memories. - Posted by: Heather Makinson (Friend and co-worker) on: Feb 28, 2021
