CHARLES ROY BEENHAM
August 30, 1928 - July 5, 2021
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Beenham (nee Robertson); his daughters, Leslie Booth (Denny) and Mary-Beth Parrish (Dave); grandchildren, Mike Booth (Hilary), Dave Booth (Crystal), Dave Parrish, Lauren Parrish (Dan Hunter); great-grandchildren, Keelin and Tarryn Booth, Danica and Declan Booth; and his sister Pam Harris. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Beenham (nee Steele) and his grandson Donny Booth.
Roy was born at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on August 30, 1928. His early years were spent in the Wolseley area, graduating from Gordon Bell High School. He went on to attend United College and University of Manitoba. Roy and Helen were married on May 3, 1952. His business career was in sales and management, initially in life insurance in Winnipeg, Regina and Calgary, then in general insurance brokerage in Winnipeg. The later portion of his career was spent with InterCity Gas in Winnipeg and Toronto. He retired as Senior Vice President when ICG was sold in 1990.
C. Roy had so much fun throughout his life with his large group of friends. He was a longtime member of the Lake George Fishing Club, the Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club, St. Charles Country Club, the Manitoba Club, and Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He spent many happy times with friends and family at his summer cottage on Treaty Island at Lake of the Woods. Summers at the lake continued after he and Helen moved to Arbutus Ridge on Vancouver Island in 2003, where he made new friends and reconnected with some old ones too.
Roy was a person of absolute integrity whose word could be relied on. He was intelligent, kind and generous, and taking care of his family was of utmost importance to him. All who knew him will attest to his wonderful sense of humour, making any event more fun! Roy enjoyed a long, happy, successful life.
At Roy's request a private family celebration will be held in Winnipeg.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice and are much appreciated.

I knew Roy and a lifelong friend and companion of my Grandparents, who was always happy and willing to assume the role of affable elder. I'll remember him as a man of generous spirit, sharp wit, and a wealth of time to spend mixing it up with the kids. Deepest condolences from my family to Helen, and all the Booth, Parrish, and Beenham families. - Posted by: Jason Quinton (Family Friend) on: Aug 16, 2021
