Very sad to hear of Elly's passing. I knew Elly going back to her physio days at the HSC - Rehab days. I would see her walking down the hall and we always exchanged funny and encouraging words. She had the strength of a thousand+ people and she always lived life on those terms. There was no stopping Elly as to what she wanted to accomplish in life and her determination gave her a full life. Elly trained many of the RRC switchboard relief gals and I still remember plugging the old, old, octopus of a switchboard thinking, how am I ever going to remember all of these extensions. Many, many memories of Elly and her service dogs which she loved and treated as her family rather than pets or working dogs. Attended a few functions in Elly's home and she definitely treated everyone with kindness and was always happy to greet visitors with a smile and her caring hospitality. Rest in peace. We will miss your. Your friend and co-worker, Lana. - Posted by: Lana (Friend) on: Feb 15, 2022

Truly a beautifully written memorial ❤ My sincere condolences to Elly's family, and Elly's family of friends who love her & miss her smiles & laughter. My heart sank finding Elly's obituary in the Winnipeg Free Press on Saturday. I was so blessed to have Elly as my neighbor & best of all my close friend. I first met Elly in Jan 1985, in the lobby of our highrise, we started speaking dutch !! For years we shared so many laughs & stories, memorable times chatting & visiting one another. Going for walks, watching movies, listening to music. Elly's love for animals, especially close to her heart were her many beloved kitty cats, & service companion puppers. We rarely went a week without having our girl chats, especially fun speaking dutch. When I moved away to BC, we kept in touch for a while, but sadly we lost touch. As I have with so many friends and family over the years. Thank U for all your patience, for listening, for loving me for me, for your caring honest advice, and intuitive understanding. For your amazing sense of humor, your unconditional loyal friendship. I will never forget you my beautiful strong determined kind no bs friendship. Who made the impossible.....very possible❣ I love U Elly xoxo PS: Elly Ik zal de herinneringen koesteren, de grappen, de gezellige leuke tijden. De vele bewonderenswaardige dingen die je me over het leven hebt geleerd. Het beste maken van een klote situatie en dankbaar zijn voor elke nieuwe zonsopgang. Tot we elkaar weer ontmoeten tot later meisje ❤🤗🥰❤ - Posted by: Holly Coutu - Bults (Friend (old neighbor)) on: Feb 02, 2022

I was always impressed by Elly’s fierce determination to maintain her independence. She was a proud woman who worked very hard all of her life. Her love of animals helped to sustain her as she dealt with her many challenges. She will be remembered. Brenda (occupational therapist) - Posted by: Brenda Schneider (Therapist ) on: Jan 27, 2022
