JEANNINE CARRIERE
July 14, 1937 February 6, 2022
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Jeannine Carriere (nee Blanchette) on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of fifty years, Bernard and her children, Pauline (Emil), Linda (Brian), Elaine (Brian) and Paul (Tracey); as well as eight grandchildren, Kris (Holly), Nicole, Noelle (Chris), Danielle (Ryan), Richard (Lauren), Lisa (Noah), Matthew, and Joshua and five great-grandchildren, Sierra, Kiefer, Locke, Bennett and Nicholas.
Jeannine was predeceased by her first husband Gilles Levesque; her parents, Malvina and Hervé Blanchette; her brothers, Romeo, Rudolph and Leon; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her sister Anita Campeau and her many nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Mom was always intensely family-oriented, hosting countless Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and birthday dinners and always highly eager to look after (and spoil!) her many grandchildren - particularly with her famous "galettes" and a fridge that was often full of chocolate bars and soda pop. This love for family also led Jeannine and Bernard to construct a cottage at Traverse Bay, which would provide decades of priceless memories. Over the course of their 50 year marriage, Jeannine and Bernard travelled around the world, enjoying destinations including Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Florida, California and many other travels and became avid golfers, playing right up to the end of the season in September 2021. Mom will be truly missed by her children and grandchildren, who are grateful to have been loved and cherished by her.
All of those who knew Mom would attest to the tremendous size of her heart, which ultimately and suddenly gave way six months short of her 85th birthday. In those final days, the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, ACCU (5A West), provided Mom with the best care they were able to and for that our family is forever grateful. The family would also like to thank Mom's physician, Dr. Roxanne Beaudette from Centre de Santé for the compassionate care she provided to our mother for several years.
In keeping with Jeannine's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of her life is planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives can honour Jeannine's memory by donating to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
