VICTOR REMILLARD

Following surgery and a brief hospital stay, Victor passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2022 at the age of 80.
Victor grew up in St. Leon, MB. During his early years, he spent much of his time at his grandparents nearby farm and he enjoyed recalling many wonderful memories of those years. As the oldest of 10 children, life was always full of work and many good times. He married Fay Kinnaird in 1965 and together they raised three children in La Riviere, MB; his very favorite place. There, he was a brick mason in summer and a foreman at Holiday Mountain in winter. He took pride in a job well done.
He and Fay moved to Morden and then to Winnipeg following his retirement. He was willing to make the move to be close to his family and enjoyed dividing his time between their home in Winnipeg and their cottage at Pelican Lake, his new favorite place. He was also able to enjoy 10 winters in Mesa, AZ.
He loved his family and was proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his travels, reading and playing cards and made many great friends throughout his life.
Victor was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Laurianna; his brother Gabe, his sister Fernand, and his precious grandchildren, Elle and Kaden.
He will be forever missed by his wife Fay; children, Michele (Paul), Denise (Dave), Paul (Tara); grandchildren, Colin, Joel, Darren and Rachel; brothers, Marcel (Peggy), Andre (Karen), Ron (Lorraine), Roger (Deb); sisters, Yvette, Jeanette, Rose (Paul); sisters-in-law, Joy, Helen; brother-in-law Dwayne (Bev); and his new fur baby Abby. He will also be dearly missed by many other extended family members and special friends.
A private family service will be held on his 81st birthday, February 12, to celebrate a life well lived. Family and friends wishing to attend virtually may do so on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at: https://afterword.com/ stories /victor-remillard.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.

  • On April 1, 1984 while returning from a Banff ski trip with the Remillard's, our families stopped at a mall to have breakfast. Vic told me he'd seen a keychain in the shape of a fish in one of the stores and asked me to go find it. After wandering around for quite awhile asking stores if they had a fish keychain, I returned to find Vic in stitches. He'd introduced me to "Poisson d'avril" and there's not been an April 1st pass since where I haven't thought of him. RIP Vic. - Posted by: Chris Thompson (Friend of the family) on: Feb 12, 2022
