ELAINE SVENSON
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin and friend on November 16, 2022. Elaine was born at the Women's Pavillion on June 13, 1950, the year it opened.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Mary Berkowski, and brother Albert Berkowski. Elaine leaves to mourn her kids, Kevin (Kim) and Kari (Glenn), her grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler (Clare, Xeniya), Krys, Justin and Michael, and her brothers, Reg and Dennis Berkowski.
Elaine had a long career working at the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, 35+ years, before retiring. She made many, many friends there. Elaine had a big heart, unlimited kindness, and always wanted to help others however she could. She loved to laugh and giggled at everything! She loved most sports and enjoyed going to Justin and Michael's hockey games, missing very few. Mom's strength helped us stay strong through her long journey. We call her a Trooper and will miss her always.
Per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will occur at a later date.
We thank all the professionals and volunteers at Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface, Riverview and Grace Hospice.
It was Mom's wish that any donation in her memory go to Riverview Health Centre or Grace Hospice.

Dear Kari and Kevin and Family - I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. Elaine was a wonderful, kind, caring lady who I will miss dearly. Some of my most favorite memories are at the apartment on Morrow Avenue. She was always so welcoming to me as I slowly became a permanent fixture in your home. Always laughing and joking and yet there to keep a watchful eye on us. I will be thinking of her often with so much love. Sending you all love and light and my deepest sympathy. Rest in peace Elaine - Posted by: Rhonda Gallicano (Friend ) on: Dec 14, 2022

My condolences on Elaine’s passing. She was a lovely, strong person and she is missed by many. Elaine and I worked together for over 30 years and I don’t remember a day when she was not smiling. I have many wonderful memories of KFC and Sals. lunches and dinners with her and Sylvia, especially on Sals toony Tuesdays. She always spoke fondly of her family. My condolences. I know she fought the hard fight with everything she had. - Posted by: Helma Van de Mosselaer (Friend and previous coworker ) on: Dec 03, 2022

Cousin Elaine had that "Berkowski" smile and sense of humour. We did not see a lot of each other over the years - but when we did connect, it was like no time had passed. She faced all her health challenges with resilience. Thoughts and prayers are with Kevin, Kari and their families. - Posted by: Rae Anne Paxton (Cousin) on: Dec 03, 2022
