ALMA SVANDIS EASTMAN
It is with heavy hearts, on November 29, 2022, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Alma Eastman. Mum has gone to be reunited with our dad, Jon Arthur Eastman in heaven after 60 years of marriage.
She will be sadly missed by daughters Judy Eastman (Dave Smith), Gail (David) Garriock and son, Gary Eastman (Joan Weitman). Also survived by grandchildren Patrick Smith (Michael Malenitza), Ryan (Erica) Garriock, Wade Garriock, and Eryn Garriock, Jeff (Stephanie) Eastman, Andrew Eastman, Janna Eastman - and great-grandchildren Kai, Elle, Cole, Abby, Aislinn.
Mum was born in Hunavatnssysla, Iceland on July 5, 1926. When mum was two years old, the family made the journey to Canada to start a new life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Alma had many interests and was an avid member of the Young United Church, excelled in archery, had many friends and worked for her dad who owned an electrical business. Alma's true passion was devoted to caring for others which led her to work at Tuxedo Villa Care Home, only surpassed by her love for raising three beautiful children.
God looked around His garden
and found an empty space.
He then looked upon the Earth
and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
and lifted you to rest,
God's garden must be beautiful
for He only takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough
and the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyes
and whispered, "peace be thine".
It broke our hearts to lose you but you do not go alone for part of us went with you when Jesus called you home.
A special heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at Golden West Centennial Lodge Care Home for all the love and friendship over the past three years.
Service will be held at Thomson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Alma but from knowing Arthur (cousin), I have no doubt that she was a fine woman. I would just like to express my condolences to the family as I know that losing a Mother (Amma) will always leave an empty space in the heart that nothing will ever fill. Love and prayers to all of your family' Lorraine (Eastman) Burton - Posted by: Lorraine Burton (Cousin) on: Dec 04, 2022
