EVELYN MAY CORBETT
Peacefully, on November 30, 2022, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed into the presence of our Lord having completed her 100 year journey here on earth.
Mom was born in Cyprus River to John and Gladys Marten and grew up on the farm. She attended school in Glenboro and moved to Winnipeg as a young adult.
Mom will be missed by sons Allan (Charlaine), Howard (Gale), Ian (Carole), David, and daughter Ruth (Doug) Johnston. She thoroughly loved her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children. She is survived by her sister Elsie and brother Percy. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Arnold, Gordon, Edward, Horace, Lawrence, Dennis and sister Audrey.
Mom was a devoted homemaker who was known by many for her hospitality, meals, and the warm, loving family environment that she created for her family and their many friends as they grew up. Many of our friends talk of the loving memories they had of coming to the home and experiencing the meals provided by Mom. Sunday was a place of great hospitality as Mom normally had a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and more than one type of pie for the family as we gathered together with whomever we brought home with us from church. More than once, Mom became the caregiver of extended family members as they suffered hard times and needed the care of a loving home to live in in their failing years. Married to a perpetual entrepreneur, Mom provided Dad amazing support in the many business ventures that he engaged in. Her strong support was also seen in her regular attendance and cheering of her sons in their many weekend events attended to support them in their snowmobile racing activities. Mom was a dedicated member of St. James Gospel Chapel, from before her marriage until she passed away: known for extending her hospitality gifts and working with the women to make the church a place that many would call their home community, where belonging and care was the norm. Mom was a graduate of Emmaus Bible School (Toronto) and was active in many Christian organizations, including her home church, Gideons, Faith Bible Camp and International Sunday School Mission.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to Faith Bible Camp (faithbiblecamp.org). Her life was motivated by the Christian message of God's grace and love and Christ's power to change lives.
A brief, private interment will be held on Tuesday, December 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg MB. A Celebration of Life service is planned for the spring of 2023.

Condolences to the family. Your mother was an amazing woman. I enjoyed many happy times with the family and have really lovely memories of how inviting she was to anyone in her home. One thing that always stood out in my mind is what a ROCK she was to the family and friends. She loved God and expressed that in everything she did. I especially remember and loved her laugh. Such a special soul. Rest well with your life mate Bob! You are both in a better place. - Posted by: Karen Swystun(Breti) (Friend ) on: Dec 04, 2022

To my Corbett cousins - Auntie had a wonderful life and comforted knowing she rests with Uncle Bob and my Mom, Audrey. Auntie will always hold a special place in my heart. I have been remembering such special times I spent with her as a young child and warmed with each memory. As a young girl, I greatly benefited having such a special relationship with Auntie and know she felt the same. May she rest in eternal peace.
