DOROTHY ELIZABETH LEQUIRE
Our beloved mother, Dorothy Elizabeth Lequire, passed peacefully on December 1, 2022, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Lequire and her daughter Jeannette (Stewart) Astleford and son Bryce, (Gweneth) Lequire and daughter-in-law, Gale Lequire She is remembered with love by her surviving grandchildren, Joseph (Karyn), Nathaniel, Sarah (Kevin), Bryne (Kelly), Levi (Melissa) and her great-grandchildren, Adam, Maelle, Rune, Piper, Rowan and Adilynn.
Dorothy was born in the rural community of Bailieborough, Ontario on December 23, 1929 and completed her education and Nurses training in Peterborough, ON. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Vancouver to work and there met the love of her life, Joseph. They married in 1953 and had four children. After raising the family she returned to nursing, which was her lifelong passion and she worked in the geriatric field, running a day hospital and acting as Head Nurse. Our family moved often due to our Dad's occupation, with Mom making homes in Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Manitoba and B.C. and finally again in Winnipeg. She had a strong social conscience and actively participated and supported many social causes as well as being a prolific knitter and a great friend and letter writer. Mom was a kind and compassionate, lifelong caregiver and nurturer who will be missed by so many.
Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Alec (Mary) Jackson, her son Stephen Lequire, her daughter Marjorie Logan and her grandson Matthew Lequire.
The family would like to thank MAID for their service and support as well as The University of Manitoba Human Anatomy Department. She will be cremated and the family will be holding a Celebration of her Life in January, 2023.

So sorry to hear of her passing. Auntie Dorothy was a beautiful person. Kind thoughtful and sincere in her interest with conversations. I always enjoyed seeing her and it was a gift to know her. Mom, (your aunti Pat) will welcome her with open arms. Blessings to all of you! Love Karen - Posted by: Karen Beekhuizen (Neice) on: Jan 09, 2023

Aunt Dorothy - another light has faded away, but how brightly her smile shined. She was a gentle and patient soul, who will be missed by all who she graced in her journeys. So many memories from Alberta to Winnipeg - her family were always fun to be sharing life's adventures. God bless and she will be surrounded in Heaven by her loved ones. - Posted by: Robin Metcalfe (nephew) on: Jan 06, 2023

I met your parents in Winnipeg through a mutual friend. We became steadfast friends when they moved to BC. We kept in touch when they moved back through long phone calls. Dorthy always kept me in good supply of knitted dish clothes and hot mats. I talked to her in November and we said our goodbyes. I will miss her calls. My condolences to your family. - Posted by: Doreen Young (Friend) on: Jan 03, 2023
