BERNARD GROSS
After a lengthy illness, Bernie passed away at home with his family by his side on Sunday, December 25, 2022.
Bernie was born September 17, 1939 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Rhina; and his first wife Margaret. Left to mourn are his wife Carole Solmundson; children, Carolyn (Sean), Joseph (Suzanne); grandsons, Jared, Zachary (Deanna), Ethan (Lorissa) and Dylan. He will also be missed by his extended family, Janine and Michael (Veronica), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Freemason for most of his adult life, Bernie was initiated in the craft in 1967 and went on to hold many offices, Degrees and positions within the Lodge and Scottish Rite. He became an honorary Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba in June of 2022. He was a member of the Khartum Shriners and played the drum in the Oriental Band.
Interment took place at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery on December 27, 2022. There will be a celebration of Bernie's life as well as a Masonic memorial service at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers or cards, the family will provide "memory" cards for friends to record their favorite Bernie memory.
