DONALD GERTZEN
The family of Donald Jacob Gertzen of Edmonton, Alberta is saddened to announce his passing on December 10, 2022, at the age of 88. This came just seven days short of his 89th birthday and 75 days after the passing of his one and only love Jean.
Don will lovingly be remembered by his daughter Karen (David); his granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Alexa and Delainey of Edmonton, Alberta; his son Ken and grandchildren, Leah and Lukas of Winnipeg. He will be dearly missed by extended family, Shirley of Maple Ridge, Jim of Brandon, Erin of Victoria, and Linda of Calgary. He also will be missed by his friends, neighbours and coffee group of 25 years in Nanaimo and at his new home in the Devonshire Village community in Edmonton, Alberta where he was known as the "funny guy". His sense of humour was second to none.
Don was predeceased by his father Bernardt; mother Elizabeth; sister Anne; Jean, wife of 62 years; as well as nephews, William and Robert Robinson.
A beautiful Celebration of Life was held in Edmonton on December 28, 2022.
