HELEN GAUTHIER

It is with great sadness that I am announcing the passing of my mom and best friend, Helen Gauthier. But I am happy she will be reunited with her beloved husband Henry in paradise. She will be sadly missed by her two sons Dwaine and Darcy; brothers Lloyd and Brian; many nieces and nephews; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Helen was proud of her Hungarian background and always went out of her way to show how much she cared. Strong willed and tough, but still had a heart of gold.
I would like to thank Ste Anne's hospital and Dr de Moissac for his care as well as HSC and the Misericordia Hospital.
A celebration will be held at Wojcik's Main Street Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, JANUARY 14.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • I read these and thank you all for your kind words. They really do mean a lot. Like my brother has said, my mom was tough and strong and stubborn. But she truly had a heart of gold. I remember one time in particular we were driving up I believe Fort St. Her light was green to hit Portage and an elderly gentleman was in a wheelchair trying to get to the sidewalk through the snow. She was the very first to jump out to help and I was right there with her. He instilled in my brother and I a sense of caring and helping and fairness. I am thankful for this. I see it in my three kids and I am proud of that. But do not mess with her if it is unjust. Yikes. I know that the one thing she wanted most in life was my brother and I and our family to have a genuine love and friendship. As most family there are hard times and sometimes that is not the case. I am just so thankful that we all settled differences, (many times, haha) and she truly had her wish of my brother and I being best of friends long before she died. Extended families are huge and there is no way of knowing or being close to all. She did install family and I am so fortunate have friends on my dad’s and my mom’s side. Thank you mom and dad for giving your lives supporting Darcy and I and making us into what I feel pretty decent people, of course with our flaws. PS: if there is a place where we go after we die, I hope mom lets my dad have a boat and he can have a blast with his friends, with you mom: without the worry of dad coming home to a woman with an axe waiting at the dock!!! Waahaa. Miss you mom so much. Love Dwaine. PPS: I still remember all the countries of Europe and capital cities along with the US states and capitals. Lol. Forget a few as well I am 59!! - Posted by: Dwaine Gauthier (Son) on: Sep 03, 2024

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to my cousins, Dwaine and Darcy. Auntie Helen was one of a kind. I would remember when her and Uncle Henry moved back to Winnipeg, their parties and her always hugging me and wanting to play with my hair, probably because she didn’t have any girls to do their hair with. She was always so kind to me and had a smile to share. Auntie Helen will be missed Love Colette - Posted by: Colette & Gary Schinkel (Niece) on: Jan 07, 2023
