PATRICIA ANN SLOBIDNYK
April 17, 1955 - February 22, 2023
With dignity and grace, in the comfort of her loving husband, we are saddened to share that Pat left us to join her heavenly family after a short and courageous battle with ALS.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bridgette (Midge) and Paul Caryk. Pat will be missed beyond words by her devoted husband Gord Slobidnyk. She is also survived by her sister Lynda Caryk, along with many extended family members.
Pat was born and raised in Winnipeg which became her lifelong home. She enjoyed a fulfilling administrative career within many federal government departments.
Pat's greatest love in life was her 49 years with her soul mate and best friend, Gord, enjoying all the adventures that they shared. Cruising, road trips, nature walking, food adventures, attending concerts, family and friend get-togethers; they enjoyed their life together to the fullest. Quiet times at home were spent on stunning landscaping and gardening projects, and reading or knitting while enjoying 1960s music. Their dogs throughout the years, Jessie, Robin and Logan were her pride and joy, and they all adored her.
Pat was enjoyed and loved by all that knew and met her. She had an exceptional eye for fashion and always looked so perfectly put together, which was completed with her lovely smile. She will be remembered for the way she lived life, with mindfulness and always with joy and gratitude. Pat faced her previous cancer and recent ALS illness with courage, never complaining but finding peace and happiness in each day. She may have been tiny in appearance but she had amazing strength and determination. Pat was always ready with a helping hand and gracious heart when needed. She has touched countless numbers of people with an extra dimension of kindness, compassion and love. She would want us all to spend special time with family and friends and to remind ourself how precious they truly are.
Spiritually dedicated, Pat had been involved with the pastoral committee and the St. Gerard Roman Catholic Women's League. Pat made many friends within the congregation and was very well respected and liked. A special thank you to Father Janusz Maron for preparing Pat for her journey to heaven.
Helen and Angie, you both held a very special place in Pat's heart. She treasured all the love, smiles and laughs she shared with her precious nieces. The family would like to extend appreciation and a heartful thank-you to Pat's medical team on 5E at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care, compassion and comfort.
The funeral will take place on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church, 46 Foster St., Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Motor Neuron Disease Clinic - Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
