It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nick Maruszczak, at St. Boniface Hospital, on May 10, with family by his side.
Nick was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl "Bill" Maruszchak and Annie "Anne" (nee Sereda); as well as his sister Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Smith of England (Stan). Nick is survived by his daughter Anna, son William (Tara), ex-wife Alice (nee Robinson), and his brother Robert "Bob" Budolowski (Tara-Tami).
Nick was born in Prince Albert, SK, in 1951. He grew up in Snow Lake, MB, and later worked in the HBM&S mines from 1970 to 1974. After graduating from Keewatin College in The Pas, MB (1976) as a Certified Automobile Mechanic, he then moved to Winnipeg.
Over the years, Nick went through a few career changes, and eventually found himself meaningfully self-employed in the drywall industry. For over 30+ years, "Nick the Sander" had helped create some of the most beautiful properties throughout the city. He had great pride in his workmanship and perfectionism, and received much recognition for the quality of his work in this trade.
As per Nick's wishes, he has been cremated and no formal funeral service will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
