Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE (LYNDA) ASHCROFT
Our family will be hosting a celebration of life for Florence "Lynda" Anne Ashcroft, who passed away March 17, 2023.
Lynda was born on August 8, 1950, in Winnipeg, MB and lived in Arborg, MB. After completing high school, she settled in Winnipeg with her sister (Robin Loiselle) and attended Red River College to start a career in bookkeeping. A short time later she met her husband (Gary Ashcroft) and they were married, June 7, 1980. From there, they settled on a small parcel of land east of Birdshill Provincial Park to raise their two children, Geoffrey and Gregory. Lynda learned to play the piano at a very young age and her passion continued to thrive throughout her life. What began as a lifelong hobby became a new career in 1990 when she created Lynda's Sweet Music. What started as her two children and neighbours, the business grew, providing lifelong lessons to many within the Springfield community. When summer arrived and teaching took a break, you could still hear the piano being played from across the street any day of the week. During this time, she would be excited to plant new flowers for her garden, camping in the Big Whiteshell and seeing the movies at the Selkirk movie theatre.
In 2016, Gary's health took a turn and she continued to take care of the country home, her husband, teaching and being there for her children. When the pandemic happened, she decided to retire from teaching in 2020. That same year she was diagnosed with kidney disease and began dialysis. Her spirit continued, always doing what she could to help others but in the end her body could no longer keep up. She was admitted to the hospital in 2022 and after several lengthy stays, she passed away suddenly on March 17, 2023.
She is survived by her husband Gary, her sons, Geoffrey and Gregory, and her grandchildren, Connor, Syfer and Rinoa.
In honour of our mother and wife, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in the reception room of Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank, MB on June 25 from 1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m. We will come to the place where mom held her recitals for so many years to share stories and say goodbye to Lynda. There will be light snacks and refreshments offered. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. The family will inter Lynda's remains in a private burial at Glen Eden Cemetery shortly after.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Manitoba Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.

It was an honour to attend Mrs. Ashcroft's Celebration of Life ceremony in the very venue she booked for our piano recitals. As a former student of hers, I have many fond memories from my childhood of learning how to play the piano in her cozy living room. She was the sweetest teacher, so patient and kind throughout the many years my dad, my brother, and I took lessons with her. I will cherish the memories of the Christmas village atop her baby grand piano, the monthly prize box she stocked full of goodies, and the times she would play duets with me. I regret not reaching out in my adulthood to tell her how thankful I am to her for sharing her knowledge and love of the piano and music. She made such an impact on my life and those of her many students, and I wish I could tell her I still play the piano to this day and it's all because of her. The shiny stickers in my music books will be a constant reminder of the best piano teacher I could have ever asked for. Mrs. Ashcroft, thank you for the gift of music. My deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and students. - Posted by: Siobhan Boughen (Former student) on: Jun 25, 2023
