It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that the family of Ross Sutherland Gair announces his passing on April 13, 2023.
Ross was born in Winnipeg on August 3, 1949, and lived there until 1991 when he moved his family to Penticton, which he affectionately called “God’s Country”. He worked as a Systems Analyst in Winnipeg and then switched gears when he moved to Penticton, finding great satisfaction working with his hands installing tile and laminate. Throughout his life, Ross was an active athlete, participating at recreational and competitive levels in many different sports, including gymnastics, baseball, softball, hockey, volleyball, basketball, track and field, skiing, badminton, and curling. He also coached gymnastics and volunteered with the Nancy Greene Ski League in his later years. He was an avid hunter who also enjoyed fishing and passed down his love of the outdoors to his kids and grandkids through many camping trips and weekend excursions over the years.
Ross was predeceased by his father, Jack Sutherland Gair in 1987 and his mother Bette Gair in 2019. Ross is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Marcia; daughter Sandra (Samuel) – Joel Cohen and Mayah; son Scott (Nicole) – Isabella, Kai and Aspen; son JR (Jessica) – Brooke and Carly; daughter, Kalee (Michel) – Payden, Benoit, Wesley and Linkin. Ross is lovingly remembered and will be cherished by sister Linda (Dick) – Rob, Doug and Lesley; brother Frank (Barb) – Tracy and Kirby; brother Allan (Diane) – Danny and Cheryl; brother Neil (Mona) – Raymond, Tanya and Shelley. Ross will also be missed and remembered with thoughts of fun and laughter by his gymnastics, baseball, curling, fishing, and golfing buddies; his friends and fellow workers at Monarch Life; friends and family at the 23 Hemlock pool (especially his nephews and nieces); and his hunting buddies, including his grandsons, Joel and Cohen (the sharpshooters).
A Celebration of Life will be held between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., on September 2, 2023. Please contact Frank at 250-493-3095 or Marcia at 250-488-9667 for more details.

I was very saddened to hear of Ross's passing. It helped to have so great times to recollect. All those fun times we had at work. All those wins and losses on the diamonds and rinks. Many celebrations post all those games. Many late night great conversations over rums after the late draw at our curling rink. Ross was a great friend who I respected immensely. We all really missed him when he moved to Penticton but were very happy for his choice at a new life. I was very fortunate to be able to share those years together. Rest easy Rossco! - Posted by: Grant Swain (Coworker, teammate and friend) on: Jul 25, 2023

Honestly too many memories to mention; the many years working along side Ross, sporting adventures including baseball, curling and golf, hours of family poolside times. Other memorable times include meeting up at Big White ski resort and visits to Penticton. Ross was an amazing considerate friend always willing to help out and putting others ahead of himself. A man who exhibited many valuable human traits, setting the bar for others. Miles apart but never far from the top of our minds. A huge loss for a wonderful family; our sincere condolence to them. - Posted by: Len & Phyllis Klassen (Co-worker, teammate and above all, friend.) on: Jul 22, 2023
