RAYMOND ADAM WEIDMAN
Raymond "Ray" Adam Weidman, born May 17, 1947 to Martha and Adam Weidman from Starbuck, Manitoba, died, with family by his side at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on November 2, 2022.
Ray is survived by his daughter Carla Barkman (Peter Chura); his son Paul Weidman (Sarah Primeau); grand-children, Leyla and Heidi Barkman and Seth Primeau-Weidman and step-grand-children, Juliet and Maddi Chura. Ray is also survived by his brother Herb Weidman; sister Mae Denby (Jan Smeulders) and brother-in-law Dave Allinson.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Martha; his siblings, Aggie (Walter) Schrof, Kenny (Irene) Bard, Evelyn (Vern) Therens, Lois Allinson and his sister-in-law Shirley Weidman.
Ray grew up on the family farm in Starbuck where he was loved and cared for by his parents and siblings, and especially by Tom and Ethel Halstead and Lois and Dave Allinson, who helped care for Ray after Adam died in 1948.
As a young man, Ray worked on the family farm, then drove gravel and logging trucks. He worked as a foreman for a gravel trailer manufacturing company in Winnipeg for many years. He also drove long-distance trucks towards the end of his working days. Ray was a hardworking and determined person. He was especially talented with design, construction, and operation of a wide range of machinery, and with steel milling, welding, and woodwork. He enjoyed listening to classical music and news radio, reading about history, aviation, nature, and world events, and watching baseball. He will be remembered as being kind and generous towards friends, family, and neighbors. We will forever cherish his memory in our hearts.
Ray's ashes were laid to rest at the Starbuck Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation or the Riverview Health Center Palliative Unit.
