Condolences & Memories (16 entries)

  • Malcolm was kind, witty and always very early for work. He brightened our workdays. It was a privilege to be able to go for 1030 coffee breaks with him and the group during the early years. Malcolm, you are missed very much by all of us. Rest in Peace, my dear friend. - Posted by: Lynn Murphy (friend) on: Sep 02, 2023

  • So sad to hear of Malcolm’s passing. He was a quiet, very sincere man with a nice word for everyone. Always enjoyed seeing him at curling events throughout the years. His presence will be missed by all who knew him. Rip my friend. - Posted by: Susan doerksen (Friend ) on: Sep 01, 2023

  • Malcom was a great role model in Zoning who touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his empathy, integrity and much more. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him. I would receive a birthday cake from someone every year and never knew where it came from, Malcom fessed up on the day I retired. A fellow with a heart of gold. - Posted by: Sharon Martinenko (Co-Worker) on: Sep 01, 2023

  • It was an honour to know and work with Malcolm. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Barry Thorgrimson (Co-worker) on: Sep 01, 2023

  • Malcolm was one of our group in Norwood, and I had the pleasure of being the navigator for him in urban car rallies organized by another mutual friend. Thanks to his patience and driving skills, he converted my vague directions into first place finishes in two consecutive years. He was always a positive addition to our group activities and I will miss him, as will so many others. - Posted by: Paul Smith (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2023

  • My condolences to Malcolm's family. I enjoyed his company at curling and get-togethers, he had a wonderful, dry sense of humor. He will be missed, but he is no longer in pain so we can take comfort in knowing that. - Posted by: Linda Lecoq (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2023

  • Malcom was a gentleman and one of the kindest men I know, he will be missed. - Posted by: Cheryl McDonald (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2023

  • I have known Malc since our school days in Norwood. We had Jets season tickets together from 1972-96, curled with Metro Group for over 40 years and had great times at Ray's cottage and Saturday breakfast at the Cambridge. Malc was a true gentleman to all, a devoted son, brother and uncle and a great friend to many. We will all miss him - Posted by: Stefan Szuminsky (Long time friend) on: Sep 01, 2023

  • My husband, Bill, knew Malcolm first from their days growing up in Norwood where Malcolm delivered their newspaper. Then I met Malcolm when I started working for the City of Winnipeg. Both Bill and I have the same sentiments about Malcolm -- that he was the kindest person, a real gentle man and a gentlemen. A beautiful person through and through. Our condolences to his family. It was an honour knowing him. - Posted by: Shirley Jenken (co-worker) on: Aug 31, 2023

  • Malcolm was one of the finest gentlemen I've had the pleasure to know. I am going to miss at the Cambie Malc. Ted - Posted by: Ted Hawley (Friend, worker, curler) on: Aug 31, 2023

  • Having worked with Malcolm for many years, only good thoughts and memories come to mind. He was always willing to lend a hand and help out no matter how busy he was. He was a nice man, a good man and a well respected man. RIP Malcolm. Gord and I are sending our sincere condolences to Malcolm’s family and close friends. He will be missed. - Posted by: Katherine Ahlbaum Courage (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2023

  • So sorry for your loss Sheila. Cherish the lifetime of memories and the time spent together the last few difficult months. Malcolm was one of those dear friends that is hard to find. We shared many good times over the years. Including the smile and his defiance when I could not convince him to get rid of his cherished bagpipes!!! Malcolm will be missed but knowing he is no longer in pain brings solace. Take care. - Posted by: Linda Hird (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2023

  • My sisters, Shirley and Kathy, and I were very sorry to hear of Malcolm’s passing. He was a fixture in our lives (delivering the newspaper) for many years and a particular favourite of our parents…definitely one of the good guys. Sincere sympathy, Shirley, Kathy and Pat (the Newman sisters). - Posted by: Pat Hodgert (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2023

  • Malcolm was a great co-worker and he was missed by all his co-workers when he retired from the City of Winnipeg Zoning Branch. I was lucky enough to go out for some lunches with him and a couple of other retirees before his illness. The last few lunches weren't the same without him. He will be missed by all who knew him. - Posted by: Dave Simard (Ex co-worker) on: Aug 31, 2023

  • I was saddened to read this morning of Malcolm’s death. We were friends throughout public school in Norwood and in later life we would occasionally cross paths in his career with the city. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Garry Sinnock (School friends ) on: Aug 31, 2023
