It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janis Dominica Malekkos (nee Verden). She left this world suddenly on August 24, 2023, at the age of 65.
Janis was predeceased by her father Paul; mother Peggy; and brothers, Roger and Chris. She is survived by her spouse Norman; stepmother Annette; sister Paula (Dave); daughters, Eleni (Derrek), Michelle, and Niki; and her four grandchildren, Abbey, Brooke, Tavian and Avaya.
Janis spent most of her life in Winnipeg and touched many lives with her sense of humour and supportive and accepting nature in times of need. After having three children at a young age, she worked hard to put herself through nursing school and spent many years advancing her knowledge and experience in the field. In her later years, Janis enjoyed the simple things in life like a good book and cup of tea; conversations with close family and friends; and watching her beautiful grandchildren grow. She will be dearly missed.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will be held for family and friends.

Condolences to her family. I met Janis and her family many years ago and our children played together for years. As years go on you lose touch for one reason or another but always had great memories of our time in St. Norbert. Rest in peace Janis.
