BRUCE KENNETH HULL

Bruce Kenneth Hull, born on January 18, 1953, in Winnipeg, was taken from us suddenly on October 1, 2023, in Victoria, BC.

Bruce is now reunited with his parents, Kenneth Hull and Cassie McIntyre and his brother-in-law Joseph Greene.

He leaves behind his loving wife Catherine (Kate) Hull, his cherished children, Meredith Kaminsky (Todd) and Mark Hull (Jaclyn), four adoring grandchildren: Savannah and Taylor Kaminsky, and Maddox and Nixon Hull and his loving sister Catherine Gillespie (Michael), brother-in-law Ed Greene (Heather), sister-in-law Susan Ongyerth (George), brother-in-law Frank Greene, nephews, Jeremy Gillespie, Colin Ongyerth, Darren Ongyerth, Tristan Greene, Matthew Greene, and nieces, Alison Olson, Alannah Greene and Erin Greene.

Bruce's journey began in Fort Garry, MB, where he attended school, graduating from Vincent Massey Collegiate and completed a degree in Business Administration at Red River College.

In 1976, Bruce joined his life with Catherine (Kate) Greene, and together they brought two wonderful souls into the world: Meredith and Mark.

Sports were Bruce's passion, and he poured his heart into baseball, billiards, hockey, basketball and golf, both as a player and coach.

Following in his father's footsteps, Bruce established his first grocery store at the remarkable age of 22. This entrepreneurial spirit led him to create and manage a group of stores, ultimately giving rise to "Hull's Foods", first in Winnipeg and later expanding to Edmonton when he was a mere 36. Bruce also owned and operated many more businesses over the years including "Main Street Liquor Marts". Bruce was a long-time member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), the World Presidents' Organization (WPO) and the Edmonton Oilers Alumni.

But Bruce's impact wasn't limited to the business world! He was an unwavering supporter of the Alberta Diabetes Foundation. Bruce's dedication was unparalleled, serving on the Capital Campaign Committee, dedicating eight years to the Board of Directors, and chairing the Board for five years. His contributions allowed the ADF to pioneer Canada's first Islet transplant, leading to the development of the groundbreaking "Edmonton Protocol". His steadfast commitment also played a pivotal role in securing the funds for the world-class Alberta Diabetes Institute. Additionally, Bruce was instrumental in founding the Aaron Moser Spinal Cord Injury Foundation where he remained president for 23 years, demonstrating his compassion for those in need.

His priority for living a good life was putting his "family first". Bruce's love for his family meant more to him than anything, he was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments.

Bruce will be missed by many to whom he was coach, mentor, lifelong friend or family member.

A celebration of Bruce's life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB.
