On October 23, 2023, we lost our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was surrounded by his family and passed peacefully. He was 94 years old. Reid was predeceased by his father George, his mother Hermine, his brother Don and sister Beverely.

In 1951 he married Diane Broatch and raised his family on Sackville St. He worked for TCA, now Air Canada and was transferred to Montreal in 1965. In 1975 he retired to Winnipeg and worked at Breezy Bend GC, and Assiniboine and Charleswood CC's. He played Oldtimer softball into his 70s.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • A tribute to a gentleman of gentlemen. This is a difficult one, the memories, the great and interesting times. My mother (birth), Diane and Mrs. Broatch all worked together at the A&W on Roseberry and Ellice...at least I think that is where is was...My mother and Mrs. Hinds were car-hops way back in the 60's and Mrs. Broatch was in the kitchen. What a trio of ladies. I became friends with Russ and Jerry during that time....for some unknown reason, I ended up calling them Aunti Diane and Uncle Reid....although, no direct relationship. Spent great times at the cottage in Matlock or Wpg Beach...best times of my life....Uncle Reid....may you Rest In Peace...your memory will live in infinity...Respectfully, Wayne Bennink, MTA, CD2, CF Ret'd, CF Veteran (VAC) - Posted by: Wayne Bennink (A Friend) on: Nov 04, 2023

  • Diane - I’m so sorry to hear of Reid’s passing. I have beautiful memories of seeing you and him together at Lions Place, fully involved and participating in everything!! And I witnessed the beautiful love you had for him through your wonderful caregiving as his health declined. I hope you will find peace and joy in the memories that your life together created. Thinking of you. - Posted by: Christine Schroeder Hubert (Friend (LPADC)) on: Oct 28, 2023
