After a long struggle of injury and illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father John Alan Taylor on October 16, 2023 at Oakview Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 73.
John was born in Altenstadt, Germany on November 24, 1949. He immigrated to Canada in 1951, settling in the town of Selkirk, Manitoba, where he would grow up with his parents and three siblings.
He is survived by his beloved wife Karen of 51 years; daughters Tara (Don), Lori (Carlos); son Alan (Josi); six grandchildren, Felicity, Valecia, Romeo, Athena, Victoria and Brianna; siblings, Anna (Tom) Tepliski, Bish (Anne) Grabowski, and Mary (Tony) Shumilak; six grandnieces and nephews, Jennifer, Michael, Christopher, Laura, Reagan and Jeffrey; three great-grandnieces and grandnephew, relatives and friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Piotr (Peter) in 1990 and Wladyslawa (Gladys) Grabowski in 2007.
He was an avid fan of outboard motors and boat racing, a computer and tech enthusiast, and a cat lover. Most notably, John was known for his outgoing personality, sense of humour, and gentle nature. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

While I have not seen or talked to John or Karen for many years, John was an unforgettable person. He had patience for questions about computers. I still think about him every time I have a problem to work through. He will be missed by many. Goodbye, good journeys. - Posted by: Bill Solar (Freind) on: Feb 01, 2024

When I think of my brother John, his many hobbies and interests come to mind. In his early years he built models of hydroplane speed boats out of balsam wood and dabbled with photography. Later he enjoyed karate, all things mechanical, and computers. His understanding of all things mechanical was astounding when I consider he didn’t have a day of training. It was all aptitude. He was committed to Karen and his family to the very end. Gratefully his decades long battle with injury and failing health is over and memories of better times remain. May God bless you as you enter a heaven free of pain and suffering.🙏 - Posted by: Mary Shumilak (Sibling) on: Oct 29, 2023
