MICHAEL ELSON
We are sad to announce that our dear Mike passed away on November 1, 2023, with his loving family by his side, at the age of 76.
Left to mourn is the love of his life, his wife Barb, and his loving dog, Daisy. He also leaves behind his devoted family whom he loved so much, his brother Ron Elson (Karen); his nieces, Alison Stonehouse, Jo-Anne Flaten (Brett), Sarah Carter (Brent): and great-nieces and nephews, Logan, Wyatt, Rebecca; along with many friends, neighbours, and colleagues.
Mike went to Tec Voc. where he completed his Fire Alarm Technician Program, which led him through his career working at Simplex and Vipond until his retirement. His favourite pastime was watching his sports.
A luncheon to celebrate his life will take place on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 12:00 noon, at E.J. Coutu Funeral Home, located at 680 Archibald Street.
The family would like to thank the health care teams of Seven Oaks Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, and Riverview for all their compassion and care for Mike.
Donations in Mike's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or Winnipeg Humane Society.
A family graveside service will be held in the Spring at the family plot in Minnedosa, Manitoba.

I work doing spiritual rescues for all those in Winnipeg. This is to make sure they are taken to the light to begin their spiritual journey. Have been doing this for years. As I was doing those in late 2023 I sadly discovered Mike Epson who I knew and worked with in the construction industry. I had great respect for Mike and consulted with him on many occasions over a 25-30 year period. I remember seeing Mike in Winners more than 1-1/2 years ago or so and didn’t recognize him until he was long past by. Mike is held in high regard and I trust that he will be around his family in spirit form regularly, guiding, comforting and being. Howard - Posted by: Howard Procyshyn (Business) on: Oct 23, 2024

HI Barb and family. Mike was my first service manager in the fire alarm world. It was called Simplex International Time Equipment then. I was a young 20 year old that Mike took under his wing. Through my association with Mike I developed a good work ethic, learned the value of customer service, got good strategies on how to go about solving problems and other business practices. Mike used to hustle the technicians on a regular basis, $0.25 per arm wrestling bout, can't remember seeing him lose. When I'd get frustrated about not repairing punch clocks or other issues with fire alarm problems he'd give me the old "Don't walk away Renee" in his singing voice. Or if he wanted me to be gone he's omit the Don't. Good little memories. - Posted by: Rene Bohemier (Friend/coworker) on: Nov 15, 2023
