DAVID MICHAEL GORAY

June 11, 1967 - November 9, 2023

Peacefully, at home in his sleep, after a brave battle with brain cancer, Dave went home to be with the Lord.

Dave is survived by his twin brother Tom (Marsha); brother Dan (Heidi); sisters, Shirley Goray, Susie (Bruce) Shearer, Sandy (Kerry) Sampson; nieces and nephews, Philip Hakeem; Caley and Sara Goray, Lisa, Davey and Tommy Shearer; T
yler, Terrence (Ainsley) and Taylor Sampson;  great-niece, Laila-Mae and great-nephews, Michael and Casey; cousins and many close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy; sister, Debbie and nephew, Jordan.

Dave was a loyal and hard-working employee at Winnipeg Transit for over 25 years. In his younger years, he drove a semi-trailer and made numerous trips across Canada and the US.

“Super Dave” as he was known to his close family and friends, was always willing to help when needed and was a jack-of-all-trades.

Dave cared deeply for all animals, especially his two pugs, Puggy and Billy, who he lost earlier this year.

We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverview, his home care staff who were so kind and compassionate and especially to Tamara, his palliative care nurse and his sister Susie. We couldn’t have done this without you.

Cremation has taken place. Respecting Dave's wishes, a private famly service is being held.

To our dear brother, we will miss you. It won't be the same here without you.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Condolences to the Goray family on your loss. We were farm neighbours taking the same school bus. The Goray family lived just down and across the road from the Pisiak family in the Rhodes district, west of Ethelbert, a long time ago. Just after you moved to Winnipeg, we moved to the village of Ethelbert in the summer of 1971. Sorry to learn of David's passing. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Bradley Pisiak (our families were neighbours over 50 years ago) on: Nov 11, 2023

  • Dear Dan and Heidi, we are so very sorry for your loss. Losing a brother is so tough. We had the privilege of meeting Dave and we know he will be sorely missed. Thinking of you at this sad time. Take care! Lorna and Dave ♥️ - Posted by: Lorna & David Doolan (Friend of family member) on: Nov 10, 2023

  • Dear Davey. My heart is truly broken. You have been a friend, like a brother, for longer than I can remember. You were part of our family. You were a father figure to Dru, since he didn’t have his close by. I will NEVER forget you and everything you did for me and Dru and for my parents. I’m sorry we lost touch for some years but then I got to visit you with the boys and introduce them to “uncle Davey”. I hated seeing you so sick. But you were still Davey. You drove me nuts at times, but you will always always be in my heart. And I’ll be forever grateful you were part of our family. I’m sorry to your family. I wish you guys strength during this difficult time. We love you Davey always. Sophia, Dru, Ali Karim and Silas. - Posted by: Sophia Ferreira (Friend) on: Nov 10, 2023

  • We grew up with Dave and the Goray family on Pritchard Avenue. We kept in touch with dave over the years and he was always kind in referring us out in our real estate business. Dave was caring, thoughtful and always concerned about others when he was going through his own struggles. Rest in peace dear friend. You were an amazing man. - Posted by: Cheryl & Glenn Kisil (Friend) on: Nov 10, 2023

  • Dear Family, we are so sad and sorry for the loss of your dear brother and uncle, Dave. He was certainly a force and so full of life. What I will remember most about Dave is his willingness to help anybody with anything. A fiery personality coupled with kindness. I'm grateful for the visits we had these past months as his health declined. He was full of hilarious stories from his past occupations. We shared a love of Aldo Nova's music and amazingly as I write this, there is Aldo Nova on the radio. A fitting tribute to Dave. Rest in peace, my brother from another mother💙 You are and will always be sorely missed. Love from Gaye and Greg and family. - Posted by: Gaye (Close friend) on: Nov 10, 2023
