EUGENE CHARLES KEENAN

September 7, 1950 -
November 4, 2023

Peacefully, with his wife by his side, Eugene, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away. His suffering is now over and he can finally be at rest.

In his 73 years, he left his mark on the people who he loved and who loved him. Gene and Peggy celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. Left to mourn are their daughter Danielle and son Matthew (and family). His sons, Michael, Martin, and daughter Dallas, along with their spouses and children, are all mourning and cherishing the times they had together over the years as a blended family. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family, whom he loved fiercely.

We would like to thank all of those who helped ensure Gene could remain at home as much as possible, including Claude St. Germain, his brother-in-law and friend, who spent a lot of time with the family in Winnipeg.

He also leaves behind three sisters and six brothers, as well as multiple sisters-and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his brothers, Johnny, Jimmy, and Charlie.

Cremation has already taken place and the family thanks Branch and Pyre for their thoughtful help throughout this difficult time.

My love; our life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Love Peggy xoxo

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • We met Gene when he and Peggy moved into Dawson, we was very friendly and helpful. Even though he had health issues he would be ready to help out in any way he was able to. Gene made many miles walking on our floor and he always made time to stop and talk to you. We are sending out beautiful condolences to Peggy and family. Gene will surely be missed RIP Gene - Posted by: Betty and Roger Albertson (Friend) on: Nov 12, 2023

  • Peggy and Family, My most sincere condolences on Gene's passing. Gene's family lived across the back lane from my parents in Transcona many years ago. Mike, Marty and Dallas were very young then. Gene used to cut the grass for my parents, and my Dad used to call him "Gene, Gene, the Mowing Machine" and always had a "cold one" waiting for him after a job well done. They/we truly appreciated Gene's help in our absence . Years later we were able to rekindle our friendship when his family settled in Lac du Bonnet. Rest in Peace Gene! • I met Peggy and Gene more than 40 years ago and we became lifelong friends. Gene's sense of humor was 2nd to none and we shared many laughs and celebrations over the years. His health issues these past few years slowed him down, but his wit, twinkling eyes and impish grin were still quick to come out. That is what I will miss and always remember. Rest easy dear friend, save me a pear and some dessert. Til we meet again, Love ya, Barbie - Posted by: Barb McDougall (Friend) on: Nov 10, 2023
