Irene passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023 at the age of 95 at Chartwell Langley Gardens, Langley, BC. Irene was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Leo Fontaine.
Irene will be missed by her children, Yvonne (Buck), Michelle (Ron), Paul (Candace), Noel; her brother Ken and sister Betty; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special mention to Chantal Chorney, her eldest grandchild whose weekly visits were much appreciated.
Irene enjoyed her retirement in Duncan, BC and winters at the Salton Sea in California. She shared good times in Langley with her sister June, her travelling companion. Her passions included travel, gardening, crafting and needlework.
Irene was born in Winnipeg in 1928 and moved across Canada with Leo's various postings while in the Armed Forces.
In keeping with Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
