Margaret Eleanor Schick, aged 88, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023 at the Chartwell Willow Retirement Community after an ongoing battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born August 27, 1935 in Carman, Manitoba to Harriet (Hattie) and Gordon McCallum.
Margaret is survived by her children, Colleen, Clint and Don; seven amazing grandchildren; two beautiful great-grandchildren who started their life journey under her watchful eye. She also leaves behind her loving sister Shirley, and brother in-law Ed Zacharias.
Margaret loved her family, many friends and her husband Chuck who predeceased her in 2018. She led a full life which included skating professionally with the Canadian Ice Fantasy Show, as well as mastering the art of sales as a respected Avon representative within the community.
Margaret and Chuck enjoyed many years of active retirement splitting time between their cherished Kenora cottage, Mesa Arizona, and travels to be with family and friends across Canada and Europe. In recent years, Margaret moved to Vancouver to be closer to family, and was surrounded by all three of her children as she gently passed.
We wish to thank the staff of the Chartwell Willow, as well as the Sturgeon Creek II, for their compassionate and professional care. They commented they will miss Margaret’s sassy sense of humour even as she fought her dementia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society via: https://alzheimer.ca/en/take-action/make-your-donation-today.
A Winnipeg celebration of life will be announced this coming spring to allow friends and family to come together to share their love for this wonderful woman.
