Maria (Mary) Wiebe, 95, of Grunthal, MB., passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Menno Home for the Aged, Grunthal, MB.
She is survived by brother Peter, brother Edward (Tina), sister-in-law Hilda Wiebe and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband John Wiebe, one brother, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law and one great nephew.
Mary was born on November 7, 1928, in New Bothwell, MB. Her mother suffered a breakdown due to experiences in Russia and she had to take over the family responsibilities and household duties at a young age. At the age of 28, she moved to Winnipeg and became a nurses’ aid at the General Hospital in Winnipeg.
She married the love of her life John Wiebe in 1970. They resided in Winnipeg and later moved to Steinbach. She was widowed in 2001.
Due to failing health, Mary moved to the Menno Home in Grunthal, MB., in 2016, where she passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gilmore and the staff at the Menno Home.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with viewing prior to service. Interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
