ANN CHRISTINE REEVES

We lovingly remember our beloved mom, Ann Christine Reeves (nee Thomson), who passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023.

The epitome of compassion, wisdom, and safety – Mom could always be found delivering her care and selfless love to those she kept close. Her husband Gerald, her family, and especially her beloved source of light, granddaughter Adelaide, will deeply miss her presence, her soft touch, and her gentle guidance.

Mom found her way to remind us, in all things - 'Grief never ends but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.' In our hearts, her presence will remain. In her watchful eyes, we will always find comfort and guidance when we feel lost. And in the joyful wag of an old dog's tail, we shall always find her wisdom, and a reminder that simple things bring joy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, a cause mom cherished.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • I knew Chris from our childhoods when she would visit her Grandma and Grandpa Bryan in Ochre River. We played house by the hours, using the seeds from the caragan hedge, as every thing we needed in our playhouse. We pledged to never get married and live in a big house and look after cats. I did visit her in Toronto when we were teenagers. I had the pleasure of being in the wedding party when she and Gerry got married. But in her very humble and gentle way, she declined being in my wedding party. We lost track of each other after a few visits in Winnipeg when we were first married. I would think of her from time to time and want to reconnect. I saw where she won a volunteer award at the Humane Society. I worked in public health and we would have casual immunization nurses to assist us in clinics. When I met a nurse from Deer Lodge, they would always know Chris and just talk about what a kind, competent and amazing nurse she was. Sara and Bryan and family and Gerry, I extend my deepest condolences... she was an amazing person even as a young girl. I just saw her obituary today. - Posted by: Verna Adolf (childhood friend) on: Sep 02, 2025

  • I feel I was the luckiest gal alive to have Chris as my nursing preceptor 30 years ago. Chris was the epitome of what I consider a ‘perfect’ nurse should there be one. Calm, compassionate, gentle, thoughtful, caring, knowledgeable..the list could go on and on. I was able to continue nursing along side her for many years and learned almost daily something new or how I could improve on the care or manner of care that I was providing. Best of all we became close friends and I have treasured that friendship through the years. I will forever miss her-but be so grateful of that friendship. An example of Chris as a home-maker is that of her wonderful baking -she excelled at most everything she did. She often brought in baking to our unit and once was a delicious coffee-cake for the nursing staff to enjoy. Chris had awakened at 4 am that morning she told me to bake this wonderful cake as she said ‘if I had baked it last evening I was afraid it would be stale’! That was Chris! I will miss her forever and think of her whenever I make a lazy daisy cake which she enjoyed or I see the wag of an old dog’s tail. May you rest in peace ‘nurse’! 💕 - Posted by: Tanis (Friend) on: Dec 03, 2023

  • I always remembered Christine, I was a brand new nurse in 1997. Lodge 3 east. She was such a gentle nurse and so knowledgeable. She helped mold me to the nurse I am today. I am still at DLC, 26 years later will always remember what an amazing gentle nurse that she was. RIP - Posted by: Carolin (Co worker DLC. ) on: Dec 03, 2023
